I and the other Laetare Group counselors are devoted to giving you a professional counseling experience guided by faith, hope, and compassion. The counseling team at the Laetare Group is familiar with the tenets of the Christian faith. We will incorporate prayer, Scripture, and other spiritual interventions depending on your interest and comfort. Our services are open to peoples of all faiths and creeds, and lack thereof. Faith is an integral part of my practice. For me, all the best counseling techniques and coping skills in the world are not enough without God. Our relationship with God can become complicated and confusing at times. Sometimes it feels like He isn't even there. It's okay to feel angry or abandoned by God. But when you turn to Him he does hear you. My counseling is not a bible study, but bringing Christ into my sessions is important to me.

As a Christian therapist, I will support you in the values and standards that are so important to you. You are welcome to bring scripture guidance and prayer into our session. I practice the admonition to "judge not", which frees us to explore your life challenges in a compassionate and caring environment. Christians struggle with the same life challenges as others. Forgiveness, self-acceptance, humlity, personal spiritual growth, grace, joy, and compassion are part of the message of Jesus Christ. Do you find yourself asking ‘but what does God say’ or ‘is this in alignment with what it means to be Christian’ when it comes to therapy? The honest truth is sometimes as a therapist, if I am working with a client who has said Christianity is foundational to who they are, I will ask “do you want to hear the words of therapy right now or the words of the Bible?” There are times when the therapy of the world is different than the call on our life or being a Christian.
