I believe God created us for relationship and that good relationships take effort. I incorporate listening skills, attachment styles, relational skills, and biblical principles into my family therapy. I believe that it is necessary for us to make the relationship more important than any issue we may have with a person. Forgiveness is key and possible when we choose to let Jesus heal the wound.

We first identify key conflict areas and then work to rebuild trust between individuals. Once understanding is restored, we bring it to a family level. Whether working with children, the marriage, in-laws, or siblings, the process remains similar. We get to the root of core emotions, untangling problems inhibiting communication and keeping us in negative cycles.

Families undergo stress and change and often don't know how to resolve issues. Exploring family dynamics and hearing the problem story help create new ways to communicate and write a new family story in which communication is improved and relationships are strengthened. Families are living, breathing entities which need to be nurtured in addition to the individual needs of its members.

Our approach to family therapy engages each member of the family as part of the larger family system, with each person bringing strengths and contributions necessary to the family's success. We work in therapy to help each member of the family to recognize and value the contributions of other family members. The goal of family counseling is not to create perfect families, but ones that love and value each family member. We focus on enhancing family communication while discouraging disruptive, dysfunctional, or demeaning behaviors. We also help families to develop healthy boundaries to protect and preserve relationships in the family.
