Barbara J. Reichlin, a therapist for over 36 years, is both a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Licensed Professional Counselor. She is an Advanced Imago Therapy Clinician and a Certified Imago Couples Workshop Presenter. She has conducted over 100 weekend workshops for couples.
On a personal note, Barbara has been with her husband, Dr. Robert Reichlin, for 39 years. Barbara and Robert, (who, in the opinion of Barbara, is one of Houston's finest psychologists and THE finest gero-psychologist in town), office together in Bellaire, Texas. They are extremely proud of their daughter, 27, who lives in DC, and Barbara's son, his lovely wife and their (naturally) adorable 8 year old twins, Barbara’s grandchildren.
The most frequently heard feedback Ms. Reichlin receives is how calming and soothing her voice and presence are. This, added to her compassionate nature and years of experience have led more than one to describe her as a "natural therapist". Additionally, she is frequently told by men that they feel safe with her due to her fair and unbiased approach.
Ms. Reichlin was a Staff Psychologist for nine years at the Texas Research Institute of Mental Sciences (TRIMS) in the Houston Medical Center. There, she founded and directed the TRIMS Human Sexuality Training Program and was a faculty member of the Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Gerontology and Psychiatry Residency training programs. She was a member of the Houston Galveston Family Therapy Consortium.
Ms. Reichlin first began working with couples in 1980. In 1990, she completed training in Imago Relationship Therapy, and in 1994 was personally trained and certified by Dr. Harville Hendrix, the creator of Imago. She entered full time private practice in 1982 as a sex and relationship therapist.
From 2011 - 2012, Ms Reichlin trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). EFT is a highly successful approach to couples therapy that has been validated by over 20 years of empirical research. Barbara has been both inspired by and excited about the significant results achieved through the addition of this powerful model to her Imago skill set.
Ms. Reichlin is member and past President of the Houston Area Association for Imago Relationship Therapists and last year led that organization’s first service project: a one-day seminar for parents with an autistic child in conjunction with Easter Seals of Houston.
