Frisco is a suburb of Dallas with a population around 100,000 people. It is also thought to be one of the more wealthy areas in the Dallas area, along with being one of the fastest growing areas.  Forbes magazine named it the seventh-fastest growing suburbs in the country, back in 2007.  The economy in Frisco is mostly retail, with the largest retail space being the Stonebriar Centre, which opened in 2000.1 This center has 165 stores, IKEA, along with other retail and restaurant chains. The Centre is located right on Preston Road, which is a major traffic artery in the city. Frisco is different from the other cities in the area, as it diverts a percentage of their local sales tax revenue to fund the Economic Development Corporation, rather than the mass transportation system, which is what the other cities do. The purpose is to reallocate these funds back into commercial ventures. The city Square is another prominent structure in the area that is a mixed-use facility with 250 apartments, seven restaurants, and approximately 40,000 square feet in office space.  This is also where the new City Hall, main library and public common areas will be located.

Bullying has become one of the most important mental health issues of our era, due to the significant and lingering effects that childhood bullying can have on adults.3 The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP) in Frisco is a community wide program with the goal of ending and preventing bullying in schools.4 The focuses of the program include creating safe learning environments, improving student achievement by reducing the anxiety and stress caused by bullying, providing the community with educational and emotional support in the event of bullying, and educating adults in strategies to address bullying. For more information about OBPP, call (469) 633-6000.
