Kayla Roberts earned her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University and completed her internship as a therapist at Nova Community Mental Health Clinic. She has been working as a therapist at Rivergate Family Resource Center, conducting individual, couples, and family therapy sessions. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Board Certified Christian Counselor. Kayla focuses on mood and anxiety disorders, addictions, trauma, identity and relationship issues. Kayla has worked for three years as a Family Counselor at ‘His Caring Place', a Christian group home for young women, where she taught classes on life and social skills, conflict resolution, independent living, parenting, marriage & family, and career orientation. She has also worked for years as a pastoral counselor, and has extended experience with clients facing spiritual issues and conflicts, who struggled with painful conflicts and questions in their quest for truth and meaning in their lives. Her training experience as a Child Welfare Case Manager for child dependency cases in Broward County under the supervision of the Department of Children & Families has given her a deeper understanding of the multifaceted issues families face today within their own structure and their social environment.
Kayla uses cognitive-behavioral, client-centered, solution-focused, existential, and other insight oriented counseling approaches, including Christian counseling to reach her client's needs for healing and change. She values her clients' need for safety and understanding, in order for them to gain insight for personal growth and to reach their full potential in life. Due to her experience working with clients from all walks of life, Kayla appreciates the diversity and uniqueness that each client brings to the table and therefore she strives to bring that strength and potential out of each client that she works with. Kayla has conducted seminars at Rivergate Family Resource Center on trauma resolution, relationships, marriage & family and other spiritual issues. Her passion is to see her clients reach their full potential in their lives by taking the courage to address what is holding them back from being their best and to be inspired and motivated to take the steps needed for their personal transformation and change in their life.
