Depression is hard! Sometimes it is all you can do to get out of bed in the morning. I offer a warm, inviting environment in which I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) to help you process your depression. Research has shown that these modalities can be just as effective as medication. I can also work with your primary physician if you decide that medication may be an appropriate supplement to therapy.

I will help develop tools, strategies, and techniques for getting out of your depression. Together we will acknowledge your unwanted thoughts and feelings. During our sessions, I will help you understand your depression so you can better manage the symptoms. I’ll point out whatever habits you have that are keeping you from the life you wish you could have. You will learn journaling techniques that will help you manage your depression between sessions. As you talk, I will point out the thoughts and behaviors that are keeping you unhappy. In the end, you will learn how to manage your depression from now until forever.

We can use mindfulness techniques to work with difficult emotions or a lack of emotions day to day. Exercise, diet, sleep and many daily activities can be utilized to help with difficult times. Self care is an exploration. I support the use of medications when needed depending on what you want to do. I take an individualized approach so the process depends on how you want to approach it and what your needs are.
