I have had advanced training both in behavioral therapy and psychodynamic therapy. My approach to helping people is to use my training in both these areas, as needed. I think it is important to help individuals become fully functioning. By this I mean that I try to assist them in finding their place in the world as human beings in whatever capacity they want. Sometimes, people get "stuck" and become rigid in that they cannot move forward. Knowing yourself better is a huge benefit in increasing self-esteem and self-confidence

Clients often ask me what "type" of psychotherapy I practice. The answer to that question is complicated, and is perhaps best answered by "it depends". My own belief is that different types of problems benefit the most from different types of therapy, and that a therapist who offered the same treatment for every problem would be doing his clients a disservice. With some clients I am apt to use a more "behavioral" or "cognitive" focus with an emphasis on problem-solving, adaptive coping, and altering maladaptive thought and behavioral patterns. With other clients, I may use exercises that focus on self-awareness, focus on past trauma to achieve recovery or some other form of treatment.
