Many people feel they may be "depressed" and therefore seek out the assistance of a therapist. First we must determine if you have a clinical depression. The term depression is used widely but often an individual is just feeling sad about an event and does not have a true clinical depression. This will involve a thorough assessment. Your concerns will be the focus of therapy. We may include your family and/or friends as needed. Recommending medication is never my first choice, but in some cases, a referral to your Primary Care Physician or a Psychiatrist for medication evaluation may be helpful to take the edge off of symptoms so you can work more effectively in session.
