Family therapy is an area that I am passionate about. I feel that most of our issues can find its root in our family of origin. Everyone wants to be heard, and everyone wants to be valued. However, no one is being heard or valued, because we are all speaking so loudly that we can only hear ourselves. Sometimes we need an outsiders perspective to help us each other. I greatly desire to help your family be as healthy as it can be.

As a husband and father of 7 I know firsthand the blessings and challenges of family life. I enjoy working with families to understand the patterns that aren’t working, and illuminate hopeful alternatives. Although individual counseling is important in your healing process, adding family counseling in addition with individual sessions helps to provide a holistic approach to your therapy. Family counseling can range from support from one's family in an individuals healing or working together as a family to strengthen the bond of the family system. It is important each member feels worthy within the family and has a voice. Family counseling can help you and your family interact and communicate more effectively.

My approach to family therapy is simple and effective. It is what I jokingly refer to as “English to English translation”. I can teach you how to talk to your teen(s) in a way that will be heard and understood. I can show your children the benefits of talking & listening to you. Once we have improved overall communication in the home problems that do come up will be resolved much faster and with noticeably less stress. You can transform your family from a source of frustration to a source of joy. Parenting & raising a family can be tough, but when done well can also be rewarding. As Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, we provide a safe and supportive therapeutic environment for helping our clients to take steps toward their goals. Family therapy can be done with one or more people in the session. We can work with you individually to explore and gain insight into your family relationships, and we can also invite family members to join and be part of the process.

Jennifer encourages families to bring all family members to therapy sessions. It is helpful to meet all members and hear each person's input on what the problem(s) may be from their individual perspective. Even young children have thoughts on how the family can be better. Jennifer is open to seeing family members on an individual basis in order to facilitate the freedom to speak honestly about how they are feeling.
