Young children often express emotional stress through behavior rather than words, particularly during periods of family change or conflict. In counseling, I work with parents to better understand their child's developmental needs and the relational environment influencing those behaviors. A family systems perspective helps identify patterns that may be affecting the child's sense of security. Families benefit by learning practical ways to strengthen communication, create greater stability in the home, and support the healthy emotional development of their children.

Many times, child therapists overdo the family system in their quest to seek effective solutions for emotional, learning or behavioral concerns with young children. And many times doctors overpathologize issues that shouldn’t be medicated necessarily. This leaves parents wondering what is the best route for their child? Introducing brainwave optimization technology. A fast, effective, natural, and less expensive way to allow your child's brain to make the optimizing changes it desires to make---on its own! Without any external force, opinion, medication, diagnostic, etc. Contact kevin@kevinflemingphd.com or 877-606-6161.

I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Play Therapy when working with young children to help them address many issues. Play therapy helps children to feel safe and comfortable to express and work on issues that are challenging them. I use CBT to help children learn how to address faulty thinking about themselves and others and to learn effective ways to cope with negative feelings and situations. I also use solution focused approaches to help children address issues such as ADHD. Social skills training may also be a component for children who struggle to make friends or to get along well at school. My goal is to help children to be happier.
