I am a psychotherapist who understands life can feel like a daily struggle. No one should have to endure these feelings alone. Many compare our emotions and/or history to an onion that needs to be peeled away layer by layer. There's some merit to that, and both involve tears at times. I use a variety of modalities inluding talk therapy, cognitive therapy, behavioral therapy, journaling, etc. and work collaboratively with my clients to develop a treatment plan that facilitates you reaching the goals you want to reach. Treatment plans are individualized and evaluated on a regular basis to make sure your needs are being met in a matter that is safe, productive and confidential. Many forms of therapy exist, some easily understood, for example, physical therapy, and some, more complex and misunderstood, such as psychotherapy. Physical therapy is understood as a therapist introducing bodily knowledge and new ways of positioning and strengthening the body through exercises and stretches, in order to ameliorate physical pain and distress. In truth, psychotherapy is not different, though instead of the material world of body, psychotherapy works with the abstract world of mind. I practice psychotherapy by introducing psychological knowledge and new ways of positioning and strengthening one's thoughts and feelings in order to ameliorate emotional pain and distress.

We have several approaches to psychotherapy here at the center. We are humanistic in that there is not a cookie cutter approach in working with people. What works for some may not work for others. We tailor your work to your personality and your history. People often say they don't want to focus on the past because it is over and there is nothing that can be done about it. However, if you are recycling your past in the present and doing what we call, "returning to scene of the original crime" in the present, then you are already stuck in the past. Our work with you is to understand what you are recycling so that you can leave the past behind and stop it from interfering with your life.
