Troy, MI offers a number of options for entertainment including the Troy Museum and Historic Village. As families take the tour through different buildings telling the story of Troy, MI, children are encouraged to keep an eye out for Cheddar. Cheddar is the name of a mouse. If a child sees Cheddar the mouse, the child gets a prize. Is there a special someone, but you can't find the right place to tie the knot? One of the buildings at the Troy, MI Museum and Historic Village is a church dating from 1837. Inside this beautiful church with stained glass windows is enough seating for 100 people, and an upright piano made in 1898. And don't worry about where to register for gifts. Troy has become a favorite place to shop. The best-known mall is called the Somerset Collection. The name makes it sound like an art gallery, but it's really a beautifully-appointed mall, with a soaring skywalk and indoor pond.1

The life skills that children learn as part of the mentoring programs provided by Winning Futures enable them to grow into healthy, happy adults that can take on any of life's challenges. Children learn how to set academic goals to prepare themselves for post-secondary education. Mentors also work with kids to develop a strong self-concept and effective coping strategies to appropriately manage one's emotions. Free summer camps are also available, which focus on setting positive goals. Many other services are provided. Call 586-294-8449 for additional information.4

Family Services and Assistance Programs

The St. Joseph Family Support Program provides financial assistance to families who's head-of-household has passed away. After losing their main source of income, families can face additional hardships such as financial instability, loss of home, or not enough food and other basic essentials. Also available is assistance with medical and mental health care services, which families would not otherwise be able to afford. By providing funding to pay for these programs, St. Joseph's ensures families get the care they need in times of crisis.5
