My approach to couples counseling involved educating couples on empirically identified factors that contribute to a healthy relationship. Couples identify their important emotional needs and what their partner does that causes unhappiness. They commit to meeting one another's emotional needs and to stop being the cause of one another's unhappiness. Couples are encouraged to spend several hours each week giving one another undivided attention to overcome causes of unhappiness and in meeting emotional needs. Structured assignments are given to facilitate this process with excellent results.

Using a combination of Gottman Method Couples Therapy as well as Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focused Couples therapy, I will help you and your partner identify your problem areas and negative cycles that keep you stuck and support your relationship moving back into a pattern of ease and intimacy.
