It is often not necessary for them to understand as oppose to having an avenue to ventilate feelings through emotional expression. My approach is supportive, to assist young children with emotional expression and to understand their feelings within the limitations of their conceptual ability and understanding. I also assist parents with parenting techniques to address behavioral issues and to provide support to the child.
