We incorporate play, art, and music into our work.

I offer counseling typically to children 12+ If the child is younger than 12, and needs support for entering middle school, or peer/ social skills with my experience K-12, and graduate school age, please inquire re: need! When working with kids, it is important to take into account multiple facets, such as their developmental level, the family dynamics, parenting support, and psycho-education. When working with the clients that are younger, I work with them using Art Therapy, Therapeutic Play Techniques, story-telling, and parenting support to be able to work with the client and the family to meet their goals. I have been able to work with younger children, ages 3-21, for most of my career, working on building relationships, learning coping skills, and being able to work through various mental and behavioral concerns.

As a certified child centered play therapist, I am trained and enjoy working with children ages 3 and up. Using play therapy for children is like talk therapy for adults.. it is the best way children have to communicate their struggles and work through their feelings. A critical part of working with children is keeping communication going with you, the parent. Part of my treatment approach includes regularly scheduled consultations with you. I have designated play therapy space at my Syracuse and Rome offices, and look forward to talking with you about your child.

Children struggle with the stresses and hurts of life just like the rest of us. Because they are cute and they giggle and play in the backyard, we forget that they are hurting from the problems in their lives that they just don't understand.
