My approach to depression therapy begins with helping clients understand it is a treatable illness. I assess their symptoms (sleep, eating problems, lack of focus, irritability, anxiety, sadness) to determine their condition (major depression, situational depression, dysphoria). I also determine whether medication (administered under the supervision of a medical professional) may be necessary in addition to talk therapy. I employ compassionate listening to understand each client's issues and the root causes of their condition and develop a tailored treatment plan.

Drawing upon my 8 years of experience as a Board-Certified adult psychiatrist and specialization in Reproductive Psychiatry and Integrative Women's Mental Health, I offer evidence-based therapies and medication management.

Counseling for mood disorders such as depression ( without suicidal ideation) Focuses on mindset, reframing, Enhance Self Confidence, strengths and personal resources. Skill building for coping, and psychotherapy to determine if there was a precipitating event causing the mood. Clients with severe depression should be seeking in- person support. *I am able to support clients on medication management who need maintenance support, while seeing a physician. *I do not have 24hour emergency care, or an MD at my practice. Depression means sadness that may result in crying or may simply steal your happiness. I help my clients get through their depression by finding out who they are, seeing how they can regain self-confidence, acting like a mirror to reflect your best qualities and helping regain feelings of connectedness. Simultaneously, each symptom is worked on by determining coping skills to match the problem in strength and intensity.

Feelingings of depression can be organically or situationally based. Organic depression has a strong heritability factor, with everyday stressors exasperating it. Situational depression is triggered by transitions in people’s lives where their current coping mechanisms are not strong enough to create the resilience and ongoing fortitude required to counteract the mood shift. For 30+ years in clinical practice, I have assisted my clients in understanding how to embrace their mood states and build cognitive belief patterns and behavioral routines that allow them to feel that they are in charge of their life and that the depression does not own them.
