Kindred Hope Wellness team specializes in children (10 years old +) and has focused on many children with exceptionalities (disabilities) to explore and understand clients to learn better to cope with any struggles in multiple areas, such as school, home, friendships, etc. Our team focuses on a CBT and ACT approach in building the clients' strategies and skills that involve self-awareness, executive functioning skills, and other options.

Children are often impacted by family dynamics and for that reason, at Psychotherapy Collective our approach to working with children aged 6-11 is a family based approach. While I do not work with children under the age of 12, we have many therapists on our team who work with children aged 6-11. Having raised children and grandchildren, and working with children in many settings, I offer a place for children to come that is safe, fun and interactive. I believe that the family's involvement in the therapy will best support the child, unless it is unsafe to do so. Children can process through play therapy and art therapy. Other family members are offered suggestions to support the child with their challenges.

Children’s behaviour is often a reflection of their internal experience. Including parents/caregivers in therapy can provide the opportunity for parents to help their child better understand their emotional experiences, to facilitate helpful communication, and to provide an environment that fosters both security and independence. I work virtually and in-person with children and adolescents. Parents have told me that their children are more emotionally regulated and, overall, happier, as a result of therapy. I offer in-person therapy in Orangeville (Mondays) and Inglewood (Fridays and Sundays). I offer virtual appointments on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings as well as Sunday mornings and afternoons.

With my many years in education I am able and skilled at working with and relating to children and adolescents. Childhood should be a time for healthy growth and development. For many children and teens, it is a time of great emotional stress. Children react to stress in many ways including withdrawal and acting out behaviors at home and school.
