Our families and those around us shape who we will become and our thought patterns. We learn our language, habits and how to view the world through the influence of our families. When we have healthy family relationships it is easier to maintain healthy relationships within and outside of our family. Family therapy helps families develop and maintain healthy and functional units. I employ aspects of Bowenian and Structural therapy to work with families to help deal with domestic violence, depression, anxiety, grief, child/adolescent behavioral issues to name a few.

I will work together with you and your family to discuss your concerns about how you are functioning well together and address the areas that are causing distress. Families who live together with adult children learn how to relate in a different way to each other than when they were kids. I take a respectful approach to ensure everyone has a voice and create a safe space to work towards the goals of the family, which may include rebuilding trust, communication, openness and a sense of belonging.

Working with families is assessed on a case by case basis in my practice. If your family is assessed as a good fit for my practice we will work together to support problem-solving, increase clear communication, reduce tension and increase ease between family members. I also work with parents to understand the complex needs of babies, children, youth, and young adults by learning and practicing tools to support compassionate parenting. In my individual practice, I work with clients to understand the complexities of family systems, how to navigate boundary setting with family members, and we work together to practice tools that support healing wounds created from trauma within families.
