Dr. Strauss offers career counseling through New Leaf Psychology Centre. In order to facilitate decision making, sessions will first assess your current skills, assets and interests. Your level of fulfillment at your current place of work, and obstacles to fulfillment will also be discussed. Potential career changes will be reviewed, with the goal of helping you come to a decision that you are comfortable with.

Starting my second career in life, I had the benefit of a career counselor who guided me to not just a job but a vocation that I now love and enjoy. Through a psychotherapy coaching blend I can understand my clients and their particular desires in life and their limiting beliefs. I help clients with choosing post secondary and graduate level educational paths, job counseling, second career counseling, finding a career with greater personal satisfaction and retirement planning.

I have worked with many individuals, nationally and internationally guiding them towards their educational and professional goals and dreams.

To incorporate an SFBT approach to help clients identify their own resiliency from a strength based perspective. To use positive psychology language and focus on solution when clients may be wanting to explore other careers or feel stuck in their current one. To assist clients remember and identify past adversities and their history of overcoming situational challenges.

In our career exploration, we may use techniques such as free association, dream analysis, and transference to help you uncover underlying motivations, fears, and desires related to your career. By examining patterns of behaviour, recurring themes, and emotional reactions in the counselling sessions, you can gain insight into why you are drawn to specific professions, struggle with certain job-related challenges, or feel unfulfilled in your current work.
