One simply cannot separate one's belief system from spirituality regardless of religion or lack thereof. My favorite author, M. Scott Peck, MD, defined love as "the willingness to extend oneself for the spiritual growth of oneself or another." I would like to explore this concept with you. I will remain cognizant of my beliefs as we explore the meaning of life as you see it. My job is not to impose my beliefs but to respectfully and humbly help you examine yours and together we will actively explore how to put values and belief into use as you transform your life.

In this hectic day and age, many individuals and families experience emotional problems as a result of their lifestyle and actions being disconnected from their spiritual principles. In the therapeutic relationship, we explore the religious and spiritual values that are most important to you and help you to see how the current choices you may be making might be in conflict with those values. In many cases spiritual conflict is the source of that discomfort. By getting back to the fundamental basics of your spiritual beliefs, we have found we can help you to use the strength you are able to find in your faith, to overcome the depression, anxiety, and stress that you may be experiencing.

I believe Spirituality and your access to or dislocation from, in large part determine the success of your personal Recovery. I always screen for my Client's Spiritual beliefs upon introduction. My personal walk with Jesus Christ has convicted me of the Healing power which exists and comes from alignment with God.

Our deepest wounds are often those that are at the hands of another person. Human brokenness is the root of our need for redemption. This holds true in therapy and growth work as well. When we encounter our deep wounds, we encounter our need for our Big God. Here, we are able to reconcile the broken our hurt parts of our ourselves. I have been a pastor's wife for 15 years. I am trained in integrated counseling. I have Masters degrees in Theology, Clinical Psychology, and Intercultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a Master's in Clinical Psychology: Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific Universality. In addition, I am a professor at a faith-based institution.

I am a Christian who is open to incorporating and including Christian principles into my therapeutic work. Historically, this has included a focus on scripture, readings, joining in prayer, and exploration of one's faith and beliefs. Please know that I do not consider my practice as exclusively a Christian counseling practice, as I work with people of all faiths and beliefs.

At the heart of Chenal Family Therapy is the belief that Jesus is visible expression of the invisible God and that God's primary message was a radical form of love that embraced broken individuals, transformed them through acceptance, and changed them through an invitation to something more. Since our clients come from a wide variety of denominations, we try to respect the theological viewpoints of your home church and request that our counselors (many of whom have worked in full-time ministry) do not force their beliefs on their clients. For clients wanting spiritual guidance as part of their care, they simply need to let our intake staff know and we'll match them with the right counselor.

While most Christian Counselors pride themselves on how many Scriptural passages they can recite and how many links they can make from the Bible to psychological disorders, the Christian-centric work of Grey Matters International, Inc.is grounded in one principle: truth.
