We are never more vulnerable than when we give the gift of our self to another, to form a couple. Our interactions can turn into negative patterns that are hard to break on our own. We help couples identify what contributes to these patterns. We explore what each person thinks a good relationship looks like and what barriers may be currently in the way of achieving that view. By focusing not on what needs to be changed in our partner but what we can change in ourselves, we can help the couple see what they can do better together, than they could do as individuals on their own. If each person can gain a better understanding of themselves, they can learn to live more in harmony with the other.

The Prepare/Enrich program provides several unique benefits for clients regardless of how long the clients have been together as a couple. Utilizing this program, the couple completes an initial comprehensive online assessment that both partners complete independently. Results from the proprietary assessment identify, describe, & quantify a couple's risk factors. The program is also adaptable to allow for time to focus on specific problem areas where a couple tends to struggle.

The scripts for dating and longterm relationships of our parents’ generations may not be applicable to your relationship, and there is no formal education in how to be a good partner or how to identify unhealthy relationships. But there is psychological research that shows that effective communication, emotional openness, intimacy, and other factors contribute to healthy relationships. Creating these conditions are skills that can be learned. I practice brief humanistic and emotion-focused therapy (EFT) to help my LGBTQ and hetero clients learn these skills.
