Starting counseling can be downright scary. I understand that, so I provide a safe environment for my clients. It’s a judgment-free zone.
 
We’ll work collaboratively. You’ll learn things like how to tell your partner you need more backup without starting a fight. (You always feel like the bad cop with your kids.) That’s effective communication that leads to a healthier relationship!
 
You’ll begin to recognize how your family history causes conflict with your partner. Did you feel abandoned as a child and now your partner’s need for me-time sends you right back to being a lonely six-year-old?
 
Hi! I’m Zulima. I am a multicultural clinician from the beautiful island of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. I’ve worked exclusively with couples. Currently, I specialize in:
 
  • Couples Counseling (trained in the Gottman Method, one of the most dynamic couples therapy methods)
  • Premarital Counseling (Certified Prepare/Enrich Counselor)
  • Helping couples navigate Conflict, moving past infidelity, and managing a chronic disease or disorder of one of the partners (Anxiety, ADHD, Depression, and/or Cancer are a few examples).
  • Blended families
  • Work Stress and Balance in couple relationships
  • I also have special expertise in long term marriage and same sex married couples.

 
I’ve survived a major natural disaster. So, I am passionate about and experienced in working with people whose lives have been torn apart by trauma.
