Children often do not know how to talk about things that are bothering them, which can be frustrating for parents who want to know how to help them. Luckily, children communicate all the time through how they play. This is also how they process through confusing, hurtful situations in their lives that are difficult for them to understand. In my office are three small boxes of toys and a small sand tray which all allow children to talk about themselves in a way that they are familiar with: fantasy and play. The time spent in my office will be helpful for your child, and as a therapist I can also help you as the parent know what to look for so that you can reach out to your child and help.
