Like many professionals I am astounded that psychiatrists have added grief to their huge list of "disorders." We all grieve differently and at a different pace. Like a physical wound, grief cannot be rushed or "cured." The best we can do is to keep the emotional wound clean, dry, and freshly bandaged, then watch the passage of time work its miracle.

I am sincerely sorry you are suffering. When you lose someone, or something, important, it can be so very painful. I have a very high level of training in helping people with these sorts of pains. Children and adolescents are profoundly impacted by grief and loss experiences. They may go through feelings of emptiness, confusion, anger, depression; they may lose interest in daily activities and experience sleep, appetite, energy level, and concentration changes. They can also become nervous and fretful and experience emotional and physical discomfort. Because grief is a normal part of being human, I can’t take it away or rush you through it.
