As a Christian who is also a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, I chose to receive my undergraduate and graduate degree from a Christian university. I did this because I believe that God has designed all of the proven therapeutic priniciples and truly wants to help hurting people. This training has helped me to utilize a Christian World View to solve psychological problems. As most of my clients are Christians, I pray for them before each session and with them if they desire.

As a Christian, I believe the body, mind and spirit are interconnected and effect the way one understands & interacts in the world around them. Often I am asked the question, "what makes one whole?" my answer is both personal & Biblical. We are created body, mind & spirit. each must be regarded as important components of human existence, yet often the spirit is not discussed. I have the distinct honor and privilege of being on this path with my clients who desire a more biblically based approach to growth.

All of my counseling is grounded in God's word - the Bible. The Bible verses that form the cornerstone of my approach to therapy are:. "For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." 2 Tim 1:7, and "I can do everything through him who gives me strength." Phil 4:13.. All healing ultimately comes from God.and God wants the best for us - healing, love, joy and peace.

For many, it feels important to work with a psychotherapist that understands the inner workings of a faith system. Though there are many variations to themes within the faith community, feeling that someone can identify and knows the 'language' can feel comforting and reassuring. Also, there are often many old themes and patterns that stand in the way of moving forward with the growth of one's faith. I do not specialize in treating Christian clients, however I do work with Christians whose background in line with teachings of tolerance. I deal with Christians who are struggling with sexual and/or gender identity issues.
