Tsawwassen, means ‘looking toward the sea’ in the language of the local Coast Salish natives.  In 1959 the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal was built which provides foot passenger and motor vehicle access to Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.  The ferry terminal is built at the end of a three kilometre causeway that juts into the Strait of Georgia due to the shallow bank in that location.  The ferry dock is a continuation of Highway 17 and this terminal is the largest in North America.  The Boundary Bay Airport and Roberts Bank Superport are located in close proximity to Tsawwassen.  Counselling Tsawwassen will help you overcome those struggles that you are facing in your life.  An agricultural area is designated as the Tsawwassen First Nation Reserve.  In 1999 Delta leased part of this land for 99 years which is now home to a condominium development, a longhouse, church, and cemetery.  The popular Splashdown Waterslide Park, Grand Prix Race Track and an RV park are also located here.
