Bill's Approach to Counselling
Bill believes that major changes begin with a series of small manageable steps. By the very act of requesting therapy a client has already recognized the issue and has taken the first courageous step towards healing. Bill utilizes personal life experiences, current research, case histories, humour and immediate practical strategies to empower a client. He has personally known heartbreak and hurt, thus he is able to empathize easily. He believes that although one can learn from the past, the present and the future is the focus. Bill is experienced and comfortable working with all cultures and ages. When appropriate and with permission he is prepared to do medical, legal or therapeutic referrals.
What You Can Expect
In your first appointment as a client, you will be welcomed into a caring, relaxing and professional atmosphere. No matter where you have been in life you will immediately feel accepted and heard. This will be your safe place. Privacy and confidentiality will be protected .Our topics and goals will be determined by you. These desired outcomes will be measureable, meaningful and practical. Bill will become your advocate and cheerleader as new possibilities are presented and changes are attempted. The pace and frequency of sessions are chosen by you. One can expect "assignments" outside the sessions that accelerate healing and reduce costs. Bill attempts to be holistic in his focus so that counselling's end result can have a physical. emotional and mental benefit.
For Marriages and Families
Bill believes "that marriage does not create problems it reveals them". From 20 years experience there is no crisis or trauma that he has not encountered. Whether your issue is an affair, addictions, pornography, abuse, in-laws, sexual dysfunction or finances he offers hope and help. Regardless of the complexity of the issues a couple can always get better if they are prepared to work at it and to change. Bill believes it is far cheaper financially and emotionally to attempt repair than to give in to defeat. His bias is to save the relationship if possible.
Bill has 4 children, 8 grandchildren and one grand dog. He is happily married and lives with his wife in Brampton, Ontario
