Fay Ferris is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with over 15 years of experience.  She has been married for over three decades, has raised a family, and loves her work as a counsellor. She welcomes everyone to her practice regardless of faith, culture, age, gender, sexual orientation, or race.

Fay focuses on Couples as well as Individual Counselling.   She also offers Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for persons struggling with Depression and Anxiety.   She has training and experience in providing counselling for Trauma, Work and Career Issues, and Eating Disorders.

Because relationship issues often interconnect to individual problems and because these are the most complicated situations, you need someone with training and experience in both couples counselling and individual counselling.  Because Fay has the experience and the training, she can help you sort out whether your problems are individual, relationship-based, or both.  She can then develop an effective treatment plan just for you.

Fay has extensive training and professional experience, and she helps couples who are frequently fighting, hardly talking to each other, experiencing external stress, facing family conflict, or experiencing infidelity.    Fay can help you step-by-step to stop the fighting, to learn good communication skills, and to re-build trust in your relationship and to reconnect. She can help you to revive the intimacy, the fun, and the closeness in your relationship.

In couples and family/ counselling you will learn:

  • How to immediately improve your marriage or relationship.
  • How to become closer and more intimate, to feel more connected.
  • Effective skills for reducing conflicts and fights.
  • What works when repairing your marriage/relationship, (and what doesn’t really work).
  • How to re-build Trust.

If there has been infidelity in your marriage/ relationship then you will learn:

  • What to do right now and how to cope with the initial shock.
  •   What are the stages of healing from unfaithfulness and how long healing takes.
  •   How to survive infidelity and how to improve your marriage/relationship
  •   The specific skills to heal the relationship and for preventing future betrayal.
  •   How to know whether it is time to end the relationship.

If you are struggling with individual problems, you will be happy to know that Fay is highly successful in helping individuals in the context of their relationships.  With Fay’s straightforward and personal guidance, you can once again be happy, and your relationship can be safe, supportive, and close.

If there is an individual issue such as Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Eating Disorders, or Trauma, then Fay will provide you with:

  • Hope – you do not have to suffer.  There are effective treatments (combined with or without medication) for all these issues.
  • Skills to reduce negative emotions.
  • Coping strategies that you can use any time or any place.
  • Support for believing in yourself and improving self confidence.
  • Help a partner or loved one to understand what you are experiencing and how best to support you.

Fay has focused her education and her practice on therapeutic approaches that are most successful according to research so that you can be happy again and save your marriage/relationship.

And because Fay wants you to improve quickly and not relapse, she will develop, in collaboration with you and depending on your particular situation, a therapy plan that will support and guide you and your partner/ family member to a better, healthier relationship and a happier you.

Fay also works to educate you so that after counselling you can guide your own relationship and well-being.  Fay says “my ultimate goal is for you to be able to learn and use the skills yourselves, so that you will be happier and your relationship/marriage will be transformed in a positive way and so that I am no longer needed.”

Fay offers short-term or long-term counselling. She has a full-time private practice and offers afternoon and evening sessions. She sees adults and teens.  She serves the Richmond and Greater Vancouver area.  Her office is a block away from the Canada Line station Brighouse.  Free parking is available.
