Philosophy on Therapy
Change can be accomplished by building a trusting
relationship with your therapist. My attitude as a therapist is that the therapeutic relationship provides
warm, constructive dialogue which allows you to address and change your thoughts,
feelings, and behaviors. In my therapeutic environment, I create a space for you that is non-judgmental, offers objective input, and is very supportive. Everyone has difficulty managing life stressors at times, however I believe that each person is their own expert. It is my duty to help you navigate the path of least resistance, so that you can reduce stress and optimize your quality of life and your relationships. I provide individual, couples, and family counseling in
Oakland. I specialize in working with adults who struggle with relationship issues including problems with intimacy, toxic relationships, commitment issues; dysfunctional family relationships, anxiety,
PTSD/abuse, mood disorders, and deviant
behaviors which lead to incarceration or frequent interactions with the criminal justice system. I also have experience helping people manage their issues with substance
abuse, dual diagnosis, and borderline personality disorder characteristics.Education
My education, training, and experience are extensive. I have been counseling since 2007, (and even earlier than that if you include family and friends lining up to get feedback on problems). > Completed MA in clinical counseling psychology from the Chicago School
of Professional Psychology in 2008.> PsyD program at California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in San Francisco. Expected date of graduation -June 2016.

Therapeutic Intervention and Style
I integrate various treatment styles which
include: Rogerian, Attachment, CBT, DBT, Solution-focused, existential,
narrative, REBT, psychodynamic, and Gestalt. The treatment styles I utilize
will vary depending on what works well for you. Most importantly, I try to relate
to you person thus I work with you to address your needs. My conversational
style is collaborative, honest, open, and non-judgmental.
