If you are looking at this website, know that you are a wonderful parent. Even though you may be frightened, confused and frustrated by a marital crisis or your child's crisis, you have summoned a great deal of courage to seek help rather than deny or minimize the problem. I have helped families successfully overcome many different challenges (such as coping with infidelity, handling oppositional teens, helping a child who cuts or has an eating disorder). If you are on this site, you need quick relief and ANSWERS. I can help you find those answers quickly, and come up with a solid plan for healing.

Family counseling is highly recommended especially for young teens and children who may have conduct disorder issues, cutting behaviors, eating disorders, bullying issues, and other self esteem crises. When the whole family is involved, they can work toward healing together by looking at the roles each person plays within the family unit, how outside pressures can make things more difficult, how issues are handled, and how to make improvements as a family. This way, not only the individual heals, but the family heals.

Sometimes life's problems and dilemmas need to be addressed in psychotherapy or they could possibly interfere with the opportunity to experience a happier, more fulfilling life. I invite you to join me in a therapeutic relationship that facilitates understanding your thoughts and feelings. By using this developing knowledge, we can explore and resolve the conflicts in your life rather than staying stuck. With my full attention and energy in our sessions together, we can look at the skills and the tools that will help you to feel less anxious or depressed. The idea is for you to experience within yourself and within your significant relationships a more balanced life with less stress.

I practice a combination of attachment theory and family systems theory. Attachment theory says that people engage in protest behavior if their core needs to be safe and securely loved are not being met. I help family members engage in more healthy ways emotionally so their needs are better met. I use family systems theory to diagnose and treat dysfunctional triangulation patterns such as when a child uses the mother to talk to the dad instead of being directly in the relationship. I also use family systems to determine the extent to which family problems are in effect used by the husband and wife to assist them in not resolving their own marital discord.
