Obviously, everyone deals with grief and loss in a different manner. The greatest gift we can give anyone going through the grieving process, is to offer them a safe atmosphere, nonjudgmental, in which they are able to tell their story. This process can involve talking, journaling, therapeutic letter writing, and an encouragement to openly express all feelings, no matter how difficult they may be.

Loss comes with grief no matter the circumstances. Your loss may include the death of a loved one, a divorce, a job, a home, or finances. It is important to acknowledge the emotions felt with grief and loss and to understand you are not alone on this journey. God offers you comfort in this season of great sadness and many times extends that comfort to you through people.

Grey Matters International and the work of Kevin J. Fleming, Ph.D approaches issues of grief & loss through the lens of innovation----instead of growing the same neural networks responsible for the pain in weekly therapy sessions, we reset the brain to move forward quicker and efficiently by working on the stuck limbic system so as to empower the person with more success and traction. For no one wants to stay in a grief mode for too long; but when you don’t include the brain in your work with someone, you risk describing the water to them while they drown and calling it success. Contact Grey Matters International, Inc now at kevin@kevinflemingphd.com or 877-606-6161.

EMDR is an effective research-supported treatment approach to helping individuals work through painful emotions and experiences resulting from grief and loss. Loss does not always include death (i.e. loss of a relationship or the experience of divorce, loss of a job, or infertility). EMDR is also useful in working through losses that may have occurred many years ago that have never been mourned. Identifying and revising negative family rules regarding mourning may also be a focus of therapy.
