The Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development plays an important role in overseeing the safety of homeless youth in Tempe. In addition to providing a number of short and long-term shelter options, the center also provides essential resources such as food, clothing and hygiene products. Onsite case management provides wraparound services that help promote emotional stability and sound mental health, encourage completion of a GED, and provides workforce readiness programs so that youth have the means to get off the street and have the brightest possible future. Youth development and education programs ensure the next generation has the knowledge and skills they need to be successful in school, work, and life. Veterans returning from service can also take advantage of programs that address the mental and emotional effects of involvement in war. Financial assistance gives families a much-needed break from the worry of paying rent, utilities and for other necessities so they can focus on improving communication and restoring trust.
