Eating disorders are widely misunderstood as being simplistic and a choice. In my approach to treating eating disorders, I help people understand how eating disorders help them regulate their emotions and in turn assist patients in their everyday lives to develop emotional regulation skills that will enhance their lives. Through the process of talk therapy, patients begin to know themselves, their minds, their feelings and their thoughts so as to make sense of how they have been living and how they wish to live more fulfilling lives.

An eating disorder is a serious and often fatal illnesses that causes serious disturbances to a person’s eating behaviors, physical health, and relationships. Obsessions with food, body weight, and shape may also signal an eating disorder. The sooner someone struggling with this illness, or displaying behaviors and attitudes consistent with these disorders, can get connected to help, the better. Common eating disorders include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge-eating disorder. Once there is stabilization, we explore the family dynamics and control which most likelyexacerbated the eating disorder. The faulty thought processes need to be altered.
