The Glendale Public Library system has something for everyone.  The library system has several branches as well as a bookmobile.  One interesting option is the library’s architectural tour entitled “Discovering the History and Architecture of Glendale’s Public Libraries”.  Each branch offers different services and programs.  Patrons can choose homework help at the Grandview branch, story time and snacks at the Chevy Chase location or teen council at the Pacific Park site.  Additional programs offered are tax preparation assistance during tax season and support groups for writers.  The Brand Library and Art Center has a recital hall and art galleries in addition to the library collection.  Many of the library locations are conveniently reached via public transit.  Another useful feature is the ability to reserve and renew items online as well as via telephone.  Various databases are also available online. 1 Most locations are open Monday through Saturday with only the main branch open on Sunday.

Families interested in sports have plenty of choices.  The Parks Department offers soccer, tennis and skating for children and teens.  Adults can participate in basketball, soccer, and slow pitch softball leagues.  For people who want the flexibility of only occasional play, adult and masters (50+) open play soccer, volleyball and badminton are also available.  Senior citizens are not forgotten as the department has several helpful resources.  In addition to lifelong learning classes, legal assistance and meals at recreation centers as well as delivered in-home meals are provided.  Some of these services are free while others have small fees associated with them.
