The Experiential model of working through the Bereavement process to Grief provides a safe and structured environment for the client to teach the therapist about their personal experience. Experiential techniques allow for the emotional healing and self- compassion desired when working through grief. The mindfulness component of the experiential approach places focus on the present externalizing of emotions, thoughts, and behaviors to help the client experience the process holistically with the outcome of acceptance, self- kindness, and restructuring of new routines, new future, and new sense of self.

Grief is such a natural part of life, even everyday life from small disappointments to major crushing losses. It comes with so many feelings such as sadness, anger, numbness, and confusion. Many times it's possible to simply work through it all on your own and let the feelings naturally dissipate. But sometimes it's just WAY too much. Feeling overwhelmed and unable to cope on your own is a sign you should consider giving yourself the gift of support and guidance from a professional. I have needed this myself. I use a family system approach to grieving. Which means I am able to help people adjust to the loss of loved ones and heal relationships, both present and past, that can be impacted by the loss.

Grief is not anyway natural or pathological. My approach to grief is to meet you where you are. Grief if a tough thing to deal with so we take our time and walk this journey together. I educate and sympathize with you while you are grieving in order to allow them to feel safe.
