Anger often signals that something important inside you needs attention. Beneath it, there may be hurt, fear, frustration, or unmet needs that feel hard to express. You might notice yourself reacting quickly, struggling to communicate clearly, or feeling overwhelmed by emotions that build up and spill over. In therapy, we’ll explore the deeper emotions and patterns driving your anger while also noticing how it shows up in your body. Using a blend of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and somatic approaches, you’ll build greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and more grounded ways of responding in relationships and daily life.

We all get angry, angry is a natural emotion that we all experience. When anger starts to impact negatively on your relationships, your job, your children or your spouse, you might want to figure out how to handle frustration differently. We look at where did you learn how to express anger, what are you afraid of that you need to defend yourself from and how you may use anger as a coping strategy to keep control.

My approach to anger management is grounded in understanding anger as meaningful information rather than something to suppress or judge. Clients are supported in identifying triggers, underlying emotions, and patterns that contribute to escalation. We work on building awareness of bodily cues and developing practical regulation strategies so responses feel more intentional. Clients often experience improved communication, reduced reactivity, and a greater sense of control over their emotional responses, allowing anger to be expressed in healthier and more constructive ways.

Anger is a common emotion that can come easy to us and can feel quite powerful. Our anger can often help us identify when something doesn’t sit right with us, when we feel like our needs are not being met, or like situations pose some level of injustice towards us. However, it is what we do with this anger that can make all the difference in how we cope, experience, and navigate situations. As a therapist, I will never tell you how to express your anger, but rather I will empower you to manage it in a way that fits best for you and your life. Connect with me today for a free consultation to see if we are a good fit.

Anger can be such a frustrating emotion sometimes leaving us feeling shameful for even feeling that way. Men and women are often taught different messages about anger as they are growing up, impacting our experience and delivery of anger as an adult. Anger is a real and valid emotion, but how we express it can sometimes lead to problems. Let's figure this out together!

Anger is a normal emotion that we all feel from time to time. However, the way anger is expressed can be problematic and lead to negative consequences. Therapy sessions with me will explore the cause and triggers of your anger. We will work towards expressing anger more assertively rather than aggressively. I will provide tools to help you become more aware of your feelings and respond in a healthier way to anger triggers.

There are 3 phases in working with Anger 1.Prevention- Attempts to forestall the very onset of anger. 2. Intervention- Aims to reduce the intensity or the duration of anger that has already ignited. 3. Postvention- Aims to discharge any residual anger. Emotions are regulated by re-experiencing, releasing, or converting them into a safe form. We will not only focus on your cognitions and behaviors as entry points but also focus on the modification of affect (your emotions). Anger is an emotion. To have no room in therapy for the feeling component of this emotion is to deny its very essence, your existence. Gestalt perspective- Expression of anger can be very productive. Let out!
