While I don't use the Bible explicitly, I am well-versed in Biblical teachings and primarily regard it as humane-humanitarian wisdom literature that fosters profound care and respect for one another. All of my learning and approach methods (as discussed in the other site-fields) are compatible with Biblical teaching where positive mental health and relationship well-being are concerned. My primary professional 'job' is healing the hurts that prevent us from fulfilling our purposes in Life. Many of my clients identify Christian.

When counselling, I consider the whole person (e.g., the individual’s mental, emotional, physical, social, spiritual, and vocational condition) and align my counselling intervention with Christian principles and perspectives. My counselling approach is eclectic, but primarily involves client-centred, solution-focused and cognitive behavioural therapy techniques. In addition to counseling, I provide leadership support to church leaders. I help board members, pastors, and other church leaders deal with clinical and human resource problems that are beyond their level of expertise. I provide consultations, coaching and mentorship to help the leaders perform well personally and professionally.

Are yoin the midst of a troubling life event like the death of a loved one or pet, the loss of a job, declining health, financial problems, and/or relationship issues? Being reminded that having a strong and resilient faith can be a very supportive and powerful intervention. The ultimate goals of therapy will be to identify behaviors that are inconsistent with having a strong faith in God, so you can become more accepting of God’s plan for you. My greatest joy over 30 years has been helping people of faith, both Jews and Christians, grow in their relationship with God while negotiating the painful experiences and choices of life. Sometimes it is even our religious community which has been the source of those painful experiences. I believe we often have difficulty seeing who He truly is because of those experiences and choices, both ours and others’. Sometimes we are struggling with how to keep a faith perspective when our prayers seem unanswered.

Christian counselling focuses on a few main principles. It focuses on the care of the whole person, body, soul and spirit, as it is also sometimes named "soul-care", and maintains the values taught in the Bible. The aim of Christian counselling is to help people regain a sense of hope for their life that is found in Jesus Christ. Christian counselling believes that at the core of what they do is to help others achieve a better understanding of themselves and God which is rooted in the Holy Spirit's conviction. Christian counsellors seek to make people aware of the sin in their lives that has caused them suffering but also come to know the immense worth and value they have as a person to God

Jesus Christ is the center of my life, Eph. 1:17- 19 is the focus of my practice and prayer is the foundation for both. I am a mature, professionally trained (10 yrs. full time university) therapist with a heart to see healing. My training and experience is in both psychology (understanding the mind and emotion) and theology (one's spirit and relationship with God). I work with clergy and their families and am on Focus on the Family Pastoral Counselling and referral list and Families Canada referral list.

I was born and raised in England for the first eight years of my life. My parents were a great Christian couple who had both been lifelong Sunday school teachers - they met that way! Now I have been a therapist for last 40 or so years, I can still hear particularly my mother’s words of balance, perspective and a healing spiritually based approach as to what to do next as I work with couples, individuals, adults and teenagers. I firmly believe in a grand power/God that helps human beings to work for the healthy betterment of theirselves and of others. The main source of energy that drives us towards this betterment is love, compassion, and understanding. In faith based counselling and psychotherapy, I will help you to explore your own faith and spirituality and use these in supporting the resolution of resentful feelings, trauma, and other harmful experiences.

It is a particular passion of mine to work with clients who would like to bring their faith and their spirituality into counselling. I believe that integrating solid, evidence-based counselling with the healing power of God through the use of Prayer, Scripture and simply the explicit welcoming of God into our conversation, brings the potential of great healing and hope for individuals. It is always the choice of the particular individual/client, whether or not and to what degree they would like to integrate their faith and spirituality explicitly into the counselling process. It is my pleasure to integrate the elements that you feel comfortable with and which are important to you, into therapy.

Within a Biblical framework, counselling becomes an even richer process. A Biblical base simply means that the therapist believes that all human beings were created in the image of God, intended for relationship and designed with the capacity for growth and change. Forgiveness, personal empowerment, learning to love self and other are critical parts of the process. Jesus said "I came to heal the broken hearted" and at some point, most of us would love to sink into that compassionate offer. Biblical based counselling does not infer any judgement or inflexibility within the therapeutic process.
