Marriage and Couples Mental Health in Cambridge

This area is a beautiful area that is highly populated; the most recent census showed a population of over 126,700 people. Cambridge is a city that is filled with children ages 0 to 14, and there are many different groups of people here.2 Currently, the city is working on improving life for all citizens by constructing new homes, revitalizing parks, repairing the environment, and creating jobs. Right now, however, there are some concerns about mental health among couples and families.

Divorce rates are currently at 5.6%. This is the same rate as the rest of Ontario, and these statistics are slightly better than Canada's average. It is thought that one of the things that has led to this divorce rate is lack of housing, financial problems or living in poverty, or mental illness. About one in ten families is expected to suffer from mental illness or need to apply for outside help of some kind. CMHA is an organization that regularly provides counseling, financial help, and housing to couples, families, and individuals who need it. They can be contacted at 416-977-5580.3

Family Services and Assistance Programs

For example, there are many mental health facilities, affordable housing programs, emergency shelters, food and shelter distribution centers, legal help, income support, home services, and much more.4 The Cambridge Shelter Corporation is dedicated to embracing hope, offering help, and building bridges' in order to improve lives and help people connect with the resources that they need. This organization can be called at this number: 519-624-9305.5
