For the past several years I have worked closely with executives and emerging leaders, and have developed training specific to the growth and development of leaders. I have provided counsel for people struggling in their position, and for others who were on their way up. In general, vocational and professional issues are not a lot different from other life issues. Some common principles apply, and the principles that underpin ACT therapy particularly apply. What do you value? What is getting in your way? How can you move yourself forward and not stay stuck? This is the case for average workers and for executives who seem to have it together.

I help clients with addictive behaviours or substance use that is interfering with their ability to achieve a fulfilling career. Through collaborative conversations, clients gain a sense of purpose and direction, overcoming barriers to making meaningful progress in their professional life. Gaining a sense of control over one's life allows for increased confidence and self-esteem. I help clients build the motivation necessary to take steps toward a future filled with passion, thriving, and mental resilliance.

Meaning is a powerful part of being happy and often depression and anxiety are a result of being in jobs or careers that does not give us meaning or joy. My goal for this area is to explore what is meaningful for clients and help them understand what they need to reach their goals towards meaningful careers or lives. Maslow's 4th level on his hierarchy of needs includes self esteem and work is often what fills this need.

We use a one to three session interviewing program which helps you to discern Strong-Campbell preferences, Holland interests, spiritual gifts, lifelong passions, experiences, proficiencies and your own personal values. These together, help you to discern what kind of career or volunteer work will help you feel maximally proficient while still ideally challenged , strong, vital and fulfilled.

I have worked with individuals who sought career counselling when they felt that they were needing to make a change due to an injury or illness, or as a result of interpersonal stress within the workplace. In other instances, individuals discovered they were unhappy or ill-suited to working in a career initially chosen. Through discussion about an individual's strengths and interests, as well as including the use of questionnaires, a client is able to explore other career choices better suited to their personality and goals.
