Everyone experiences anxiety at some point, but for some the anxiety is so frequent or intense that it interferes with their lives or even triggers panic attacks. I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help my clients get a sense of control over their own anxiety. We collaborate to learn skills to reduce the frequency or intensity of the anxious feelings, to tolerate the anxiety when it does occur so they can still function through it, and to practice habits that reduce stress and improve general mental health.

Anxiety and stress -- ah, how I know you both so well. Let's call them the twins as they tend to accompany so many of us this way on our journey in life. My goal in therapy is to help people have a better understand of what makes the twins (anxiety and stress) act out. What are the triggers in life, in their body, interpersonally that cause them to become unruly? These triggers are trying to teach us something. The question is what. For some, it may be linked to self esteem. For others it may be resources they need to engage to help fulfill their dreams. We then address better coping techniques to help people move past these difficulties and onto their dreams. We also use biofeedback.
