There are many challenges associated with grieving the loss of a loved one, whether to death or the loss of a relationship. One challenge is to adjust to the new reality of living without the loved one. There is no "right" way to grieve or process a loss. I help individuals navigate and process the stages of grief. I help individuals work through the four tasks of mourning (accept the reality of the loss, work through the pain of grief, adjust to life without the deceased, and maintain a connection to the deceased while moving on with life.

As an experienced Christian Counselor and ordained pastor, I’ve supported many men through the grief process. If you’re grieving, I will provide a supportive space for you to process your emotions. Because grief is a normal part of being human, I can’t take it away or rush you through it. However, I can help you identify barriers to grief, and help you prevent the grief process from becoming stuck. I know grief professionally. But I also know grief personally. Losing one of my best friends and my beloved grandparents was hard enough, but facing the untimely death of my father was, and is, a uniquely painful experience. I will hold space, provide resources, and support clients through this difficult process. I believe there is no time limit on how long it takes someone to move through the grief and loss process. I will support and meet my clients where they are and help guide them towards healing in the process. Encouragement to re-engage with life will provided but not in a forceful and or dismissive manner.

The pain of grief always passes with expression, not avoidance. Counseling grants you permission to grieve. Grieving in the presence of another person is more restorative that grieving alone, but often times friends or family may unknowingly inhibit your grief. Counseling removes all expectations and pressures, allowing your grief to come on its own. Grief counseling makes room for emotions you may not expect, know how to explain, or may feel guilty about. Your expression of grief will ease your pain and make life seem livable again.

If you love, you grieve. Grief is a normal part of life, but too often, we are tempted to rush this experience and get it over with.
