The Young Adult Peer-to-Peer Class give people between the ages of 18-28 a place to go to learn about mental illness and gain skills to improve their daily functioning. The Fairfax County Public Schools offer a variety of advanced educational programs for students that demonstrate exceptional intellectual abilities. The Young Scholars Program nurtures potential in gifted learners by engaging them in advanced learning opportunities beginning in kindergarten and extending through the twelfth grade. High school students can enroll in Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate courses to get the academic stimulation and challenge that they need.4 The Fairfax County Association for the Gifted (FCAG) provides further support for students who are intellectually advanced. The association offers many educational resources for parents of gifted children. FCAG also serves as an advocate for gifted learners by working with local governments to ensure the needs of gifted children are met.5
