I would be glad to help you explore what is keeping your body stuck in numb disconnection. Next, we form a plan to help you back to your best self. Depression is typically an outcome of a current or past life event, or both. It might be due to grief or a recent disappointment. Depending on what we explore together to be the cause, we will work with action plans and strategies to set your life area in the direction that you want to improve. Further, if there are issues from your past, which is frequently the case, we will identify these upsets, identify schemas that you have formulated that impact how you think, feel, and behave, and we will work to improve your mood. Further, we may work through various worksheets and processes to understand what your thoughts and behaviors are and how these are helping or hurting your mood.

In my practice I work a multi pronged approach to this difficult state being. Traditional talk therapy: Giving space for the client to explore and express feelings, own awareness’s, transform thoughts, grieve, vent, and neutralize guilt, anger and fear. New understandings and thus new neural pathways begin to form. Also marital therapy, Somatic focusing: A profound process of accessing the deep subconscious through breathe work and closed eyed dialoguing with the body, the mind and spirit. And Life Coaching, meditation, visualization, Emotional Freedom Technique, New Decision Therapy, Polarity Therapy, Cranosacral, Reiki, forgiveness and acceptance work. The combination is powerful.

When I work with people who are weighed down with symptoms of depression, I find that it is important to remember two things: go slowly, and go together. Employing a trauma informed, family systems and somatic lens to what you are experiencing can help provide insight into how to move through and manage it. Journeying with clients through their depression is a great honour, and is something I take very seriously. I find that for many people, holding onto hope that things could be different, is something that can seem too much. Part of my commitment to working through depression is that, until you are ready, I will hold onto hope for both us.

Hope, purpose, self-respect, and connecting with those close to you are vital for a full and healthy life. Depression can often come like a wave and steal them from you. When these factors are missing from our lives it can result in feeling helpless, irritable, lonely, confused, and negatively impact your energy, sleep, appetite, and ability to concentrate. Working with strategies to help you process negative thoughts and difficult emotions, therapy can help you develop a sense of control and safety in your life, as well as work on a more positive sense-of-self and of those around you. Change is possible and joy is available, we can do it together.

Depression can feel like a never-ending dark tunnel in which hope, purpose, joy, and motivation to live life can seem impossible. Depression can also lead us to feel disconnected from the very things that make life worth living and it can also make reaching out for help challenging. Should you decide to reach out for help, I will work with you to safely explore how depression has been affecting you and identify some of the factors that may have led you to feel depressed. Depression is a result of non-processed grief, which itself comes from a sense of loss. It is the mechanism through which the mind tries to “take it easy” and focus on the loss. However, in today’s society, we do our best to avoid it or even deny it. Sometimes, we take the easy way of medication so that we do not face this darkness inside. A successfully therapy accompanies the client through this journey of introspection and creates supportive environment in which the client faces the loss. Schedule a free 15-minute consultation to see if we are a good fit.

Depression can feel like an overwhelming weight that drags you down, making it difficult to find joy in everyday life. My approach to depression counseling and treatment is to work collaboratively with clients to identify the underlying causes of their depression and develop practical coping strategies. I utilize evidence-based techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help clients challenge negative thought patterns and cultivate a more positive outlook. Together, we will work towards helping you feel like both feet are on the ground and not drowning in the depths of depression. With a commitment to the therapeutic process and a willingness to make positive changes, my client

Grey Matters International, Inc. and the work of Kevin J. Fleming, Ph.D. handles depression and other emotional disorders in a very unique way. Most of therapy or counseling processes utilize validation, unconditional positive regard, and reframing as common techniques to get someone to heal from their depression. Though this can be helpful, it rarely fixes the core problem behind it and for tough cases we then refer them usually to a psychiatrist for medication which can have tons of side effects. Instead, why not try a natural and arguably more effective way to not just change your mind, but change the brain--where the depression is rooted. Contact us at kevin@kevinflemingphd.com.
