Many people experience emotional distress and feel stuck or overwhelmed at some point in their lives, often turning to family and friends for support. However, sometimes this is not enough. A trained therapist can help us understand inner turmoil, develop an insight or awareness of thoughts and feelings, and help us make real changes in our lives. We all can benefit from having the space to process our thoughts and focus on ourselves. The process of therapy allows people to gain self-awareness, understand better their behavior and relationships with others, and how to make real and lasting changes in their lives.
My Approach to Therapy
I strive to create a supportive, non-judgmental, open, and comfortable environment that will allow you to process and share your innermost thoughts and feelings. I believe that people can find inner contentment and happiness and I approach therapy from a strengths based perspective. My approach is to develop a trusting and collaborative relationship as we identify and work toward attainment of your personal goals. My style can be considered to be straightforward, supportive, compassionate, and oftentimes filled with humor (sometimes we all just need to laugh).

- Relationship issues
- Perinatal (during pregnancy) and Postpartum Depression and Anxiety

Sessions, Office, and Cost
Whether it be individual or couples therapy, the process of therapy can be short-term and solution focused or more long-term and process oriented. We will work together to help set the pace and identify your needs. My office setting is warm, peaceful, and serene. I currently offer therapy sessions both during the week and on weekends. Sessions typically last for approximately 53-55 minutes. Session fees are $160 per 53-55 minute session and $80 per 30-minute session. While I am not currently in-network with any insurance companies in Virginia, I do offer some sliding scale slots and can slide my session fee down to an agreed upon rate to make the cost more manageable for you. Please do not let the cost of therapy get in the way of seeking help.
I offer free 30-minute initial consultations (either in-person or over the phone) so we can talk and I can answer any questions you may have before starting sessions. Additional information about me and my practice can be found on my website: www.interchangepsychology.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
