Acceptance and change are fundamental to our emotional well-being and everyone has the capacity to find their own harmony between the two. I work from a client-centred perspective empowering individuals, couples and families to develop the skills, tools and fresh perspectives required to find a balance in life. My approach to counselling is individually tailored to every client and draws from a variety of treatment models including but not limited to: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
Trauma-informed Counselling
Emotionally Focussed Therapy
Brief Solution Focussed Therapy
Motivational Interviewing

Working in forensic psychology for many years with unmotivated, often mandated clients, I have expertise in behavioural analysis and risk assessments and used Motivational Interviewing techniques on a daily basis with treatment-resistant, pre-contemplative clients to help them break down the barriers preventing them from engaging in therapy and making meaningful life changes. Witnessing the phenomenal change people are capable of consolidated my belief that no matter how fraught with difficulties an individual’s situation may be they can work through it all with the right support and I offer family sessions to help prepare individuals for the changes ahead. Alongside Individual Therapy I also provide Couples and Family Counselling using Emotionally Focussed Therapy techniques to build stronger connections and increase effective communication and understanding in intimate relationships. This structured approach to therapy creates lasting change in a relatively short timeframe, easing conflict and offering tangible results from the initial session. I am honoured when a client allows me into their world to help them navigate a path through their troubles and consider it a duty of care to ensure that I am fully conversant in both tried and tested therapeutic approaches and newer research theories. Alongside my formal academic qualifications I have gained several professional designations as a Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Therapeutic Counsellor and Master Therapeutic Counsellor and hold specialist certifications in alcohol, drug and process addictions. As such I am registered with several overseeing bodies, offering you confidence that you are receiving support from a psychotherapist with the necessary balance of qualifications, experience and accountability to provide professional and effective counselling
services. As an accredited GAINS (Global Assessment of Individual Needs) assessor I am also qualified to complete comprehensive addiction assessment reports for residential treatment, employers and court hearings. Decorated in neutral tones, my Caledon counselling office is nestled in the heart of a small sculpture gallery that upon entry presents a visual representation of the welcoming calm, relaxed and professional atmosphere you can expect when we work together. Services are also offered locally within client's own homes.
