I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with extensive experience as an educator and clinician. I am also a former entertainment industry executive with 13 years of experience developing film and television projects internationally, and therefore have a unique ability to understand issues that entertainment professionals encounter. As Executive Director of New Beginnings in Santa Barbara, CA, I also oversee the internationally-recognized Safe Parking Program®, a Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program, and a community mental health center with 36 masters and doctoral-level counselors and 12 clinical supervisors.

My clinical experience includes a wide variety of subject matter areas including: relationship and intimate partner violence, anger management and power and control issues, substance use and addiction, trauma, military service, anxiety and depression, career, relationship and life transitions, aging in place, individuation, adulting and launching, and emotional regulation.

At Santa Barbara Psychotherapy®, I provide therapeutic services to clients struggling with the challenges of interpersonal relationships and the stresses of everyday life.  I have worked for nearly 20 years with adults, youth, couples, and families in various therapeutic settings including:  Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, Domestic Violence Solutions of Santa Barbara County, Goleta Valley Union School District, Working Alternatives Federal Prisoner Reentry Program, and Full Spectrum Recovery.  As well, I have previously served as Core Faculty and the Masters in Clinical Psychology Clinical Training Director at Antioch University Santa Barbara.

In addition to more than ten years of intensive education and training in numerous areas of mental health treatment such as trauma, anger management and chemical dependency, my professional certifications include: Psychological First Aid for Survivors of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita provided by The Boston Center for Trauma Psychology; School and Community Based Post Traumatic Stress Management provided by The Boston Center for Trauma Psychology; and Domestic Violence Counselor Training provided by Domestic Violence Solutions of Santa Barbara County.  I remain current on all aspects of mental health treatment by constantly engaging in continuing education.

I have presented at conferences nationally, including: the National Alliance to End Homelessness, Buddin Praed Foundation, Northwestern University’s CANS Conference; Child Welfare League of America’s Finding Better Ways Conference; Terrorism and Psychosocial Preparedness: Impact on Children and Families Consortium Meeting; and the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children’s 12th Annual Colloquium, among many others.

The goals of my practice include providing a safe place for you to talk about what's going on; to empower you to make change; to facilitate your emotional growth; to work on what's most important to you; and, ultimately, and most importantly, to help you feel better.
