About Me
I have a passion for helping children, adults and couples find solution-focused tools that can be accessed in times like these. Using a cognitive/behavioral and psychodynamic approach, I will help you identify goals and acquire the understanding and ability you need to experience positive change in your life, family, and relationships. I enjoy working with individuals of all ages from age 6 and up. I also enjoy providing couples and marriage counseling and draw heavily from the work of Dr. John Gottman, author of New York Times bestseller, The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work.

I earned my Ed.S. degree in Counseling Psychology from James Madison University. Prior to that I obtained my M.S. degree in Family and Child Development from Virginia Tech. I have also completed a pre-doctoral internship at Duke University.

As a Licensed Psychological Associate with over 15 years of experience, I have provided psychotherapy in a variety of settings, including the counseling centers at NC State University and Duke University.

What to Expect 
Clients comment that I provide a safe and non-judgmental environment where they can express their thoughts and feelings freely. I like to help people build on their strengths to find effective solutions.The first session is usually an hour and 15 minutes and is used to get some background on the issues you want to work on.After that we would typically meet for a 55-minute session every week or every other week as fits your schedule and needs.
