I am a
Licensed Professional Counseling (#8732) and Nationally Certified Counselor (#584890).
I received a MA in Christian Counseling through Gordon Conwell Theological
Seminary and I
have been involved in providing clinical services since 2009. My internship experiences consisted of adolescents dealing with issues
surrounding anger, anxiety, coping skills, and grief, adults struggling with
substance abuse, loss, depression, anxiety, abuse, and lastly elderly and their
children dealing with identity, loss, life skills, and coping strategies.
Through employment with Billy Graham Evangelistic Association I gained
understanding and experience with a variety of mental health, emotional, and
spiritual issues. Through my time working at Rodgers Christian Counseling I
gained additional experience and competency with sexual abuse, cutting,
eating disorders, marital discord, obsessive-compulsive disorder and depression.
I am qualified in Soul Healing Love Theory, a
certified Prepare Enrich Counselor and have completed Level 1 of Restoration
therapy. I use an integrative approach using Person Centered, Family Systems,
Cognitive Behavioral, Strengths based, Gestalt, and Psychodynamic. A few of the
techniques that I use include homework, focusing on strengths, reframing, tapping,
EMDR, free association, and pointing out discrepancies. I take into account
family background, past wounds, faulty thinking, and unhealthy behavioral and
relational patterns as well as past and current goals. When working with
children I utilize both direct and non direct play therapy. I am a Christian counselor and therefore I am
qualified to provide spiritual support and guidance through scripture, prayer
and biblical theology if you ask to have this incorporated. Client populations
that I have served include children 4 and up, adolescents, adults, couples,
disabled, groups, and elderly. Presenting issues included identity confusion,
substance abuse, anger management, grief, life change, depression, anxiety,
trauma, family discord, and life skills.
My ultimate desire is to provide healing from past wounds and to equip
clients to have healthy, meaningful relationships with others. I strive to give every client space to be
heard and for them to know that I care about their struggles.
