Have you been experiencing increased depression and anxiety, and unsure how to get back on track with managing your symptoms? Have you relapsed with self harm or struggling with substance use? Are you struggling with relationships or self esteem and want to learn how to be more assertive and confident? Have you tried therapy in the past but had difficulty connecting with a therapist and became overwhelmed with the process?
In the beginning, connecting with a therapist can be a difficult part of therapy and I understand how hard it is to take the first step. As a therapist, I practice acceptance, forgiveness, and open mindedness in my sessions. My goal is to create a warm and inviting environment for my client's to feel at ease so they can focus on working on the current issues that brought them to therapy.
I have over 5 years of experience in the mental health field working with individuals struggling with chronic mental health issues and helping them regain their lives. I have worked at two inpatient psychiatric hospitals working with adolescents and adults struggling with numerous mental health conditions including debilitating depression, panic disorders, suicidal thoughts/actions, self harm, addictions/detox, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and psychosis. Along with that I have also worked with adults in outpatient group settings struggling with co-occuring disorders and substance abuse. Within this time I have also been working individually with clients in outpatient private practice. I work with adolescents and adults ranging from 12 to 55 years old. I utilize a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) in my groups and individual sessions and believe in a client-centered therapy approach.
My psychotherapy sessions begin by assessing the client's presenting problems, identifying the triggers to these problems, and creating a plan together on how to solve the issues to get back to living a healthy sustainable life. My goal in the beginning and throughout treatment is to make sure as your therapist you feel safe to be vulnerable and challenge you to consider behavior changes. As a client, your well-being is my top priority, and I will work diligently with you to make this process as easy as it can be to get the best results possible.
