Being a Christian certainly does not keep us from experiencing hard times, emotional struggles, illnesses, or relationship pain. My goal is to help you navigate whatever challenges you may be experiencing, either individually or as a couple, in a way that strengthens your faith and reminds you of the purpose God has for your life. While it can be incredibly hard to walk as a Christian in the world today, it is my belief that God will make a way.

Gateway is a Christian based counseling center. That does not mean we don't see clients who don't have a faith basis to their life - we do. It also does not only mean that our counselors are Christian, although they are. What it does mean is that we integrate biblical principles with psychological truth. It means we will not give counsel that violates scriptural truth. Jesus said ,"you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free." Freedom from their emotional pain is what people are looking for and only the truth accomplishes that. There is a big difference between a center where the counselors are Christians and a Christian counseling center.

When drugs and alcohol have become a problem in your life or the life of a loved one, finding a way to return to health and wellbeing becomes the most important thing in the world. So many people of different backgrounds have found what they need in order to get back on track through faith-based Christian rehab. I am a Christian. In addition to being a psychotherapist, I have a Master of Divinity Degree and worked as a hospice chaplain for 16 years at the time I am writing this. I was able to bring relief to individuals from different faith and religious backgrounds. Working for a hospice, one does not always know beforehand to whom one will have the opportunity to comfort and bring relief. Some days, I was called to provide comfort to a Christian; other days, it was to a Muslim, Jewish person, or a Hindu. The list goes on, but the truth is that, despite being a Christian, I feel comfortable working with most people who will give me the opportunity to enter their world, so that I can help.

My background in Christian studies spans almost 18 years including college studies that required understanding of multiple Christian religions. In understanding Biblical fundamentals on how to relate to religion, relationships, and the management of self I am able to understand and discuss the challenges that society today places on the life of a practicing Christian.

I am skilled, knowledgeable, and have years of experience delivering spiritual and religious counseling to Christians and a variety of clients from other spiritual, religious groups, or perspectives, such as Jewish, Muslim, and Hindus, etc. Having taught world religions at the college level, I am comfortable with and have a diverse understanding of spirituality and religious thoughts within reasonable limits.
